"I made it back by sunset with a third can of diesel, but this one feels only about half full. Should be enough to power the signal for another week, maybe ten days if I sacrifice some heat. It's possible that someone's already received our call, and they're just having a tough time reaching us. We just need to give them a little more time."
This composition used the signal tower designed in the previous project as the base for an environment, roughed out first in Maya and then painted over. While not necessarily a post-apocalyptic scene, I wanted to communicate a jury-rigged, lived-in feel for this once-abandoned structure. Here, an enterprising individual uses a locomotive as a generator to power a makeshift signal tower, and collects fuel for their operation with the little hatchback-based rail speeder. I enjoyed the opportunity to combine a unique structure with some unusual vehicles in this environment comp!
