Starship Interior: Environment Design

This spaceship was designed to be player-assembled from voxel blocks and panels, therefore the entire interior and exterior had to be modular and aligned to a grid. I did a lot of 3D blockout experimentation in Maya before even beginning to sketch out any details, making sure corner transitions and wall thicknesses would all work out correctly.

In keeping with the Prohibition-era theme, I sketched out two different styles of interiors. The working-class interior represented the what the player's ship might look like at the start of the game, and the fancier interior provided the aspirational end-game aesthetic once the player becomes a smuggling kingpin.
